I have been in Network Marketing for about 15 years. I have NEVER seen such a total opportunity where almost everyone who takes a look wants to join. People just see the magic in this program

Comment on Artificial intelligence - Are developers the problem? by tndal

Software developers are not equipped to do today's AI. The weaknesses of the GOFAI approach have become apparent and a new approach, "embodied AI", has become commonplace.

But embodied AI is more the domain of a general systems analyst (not a programming systems analyst), someone at ease with engineering, physics, some biology and software.

So software developers will continue to create software, but AI research is already a different field in which software is only one of many tools.

[...] Dan from Netflap.com has an article describing a problem that he calls the “related blame syndrome.” I think the problem can be best explained by an example.
[...] I’m not sure if this problem has been given an official name as of yet, so I will call it the “related blame” syndrome. Why is it that when it comes to computers and technology, people want to immediately relate one problem with another. Even if there is virtually no correlation, users decide to create one. This may be related to my article about how everyone thinks they are a computer expert, but I’m not sure. Here’s an example of something a user who is suffering with related blame syndrome might say: [...]

I'm actually kind of glad someone else suffers from this. I've owned and used computers for work and relaxation for about 15 years now and this is the title my family have bestowed upon me. They take it so much further though. Apparently I'm also the family expert on dvd players, ipods, calculators, cell phones, videos (my mom still owns one), and all manner of electronic frippery.

I have an elderly aunt who I love dearly, until she introduces me to one of her friends as "my nephew (small but delibarate pause for dramatic effect here) the computer expert".
